Senior Living Re-Imagined

Senior living communities have, and are, undergoing a long overdue and much needed transformation. It is Vessel's mission that the days of the colorless, utilitarian (read: institutional) buildings that were known as "nursing homes" will be replaced with colorful, vibrant, active communities that look and feel like home, and that will serve as an exciting transition for our elders and at the same time provide them with the loving care they need and deserve. For the past year, we’ve had the pleasure of working with Jordan Dorsey and his fantastic team at Dover Development. Dover came to us looking to update their existing prototype for a new project they were planning in Topeka. “Topeka is version 2.0 of a building design that encapsulates years of figuring out what is important to our residents,” says Jordan Dorsey, President of Dover Development.”

Cedarhurst of Topeka broke ground this past June. The 74,000 square foot community will house 57 units of assisted living and 25 units of memory care. Later this fall Cedarhurst of Salina, Dover’s second project in Kansas, will break ground. This community will offer 52 units of assisted living and 22 units of memory care in 70,000 square feet. Both communities feature a unique design aesthetic with something of a modern farmhouse feel.

We’re particularly excited about their newest project, Cedarhurst of Wentzville, which will be located on the south side of Wentzville Parkway just east of Crystal Creek Parkway. This new prototype will incorporate independent living into Dover’s existing assisted living and memory care model, and will feature a combination of two- and three-story construction. The second-floor amenity spaces will overlook a large courtyard and walking paths around the site will help residents maintain a healthy lifestyle. The project has received final approval from the City of Wentzville - way to go team! The community is scheduled to break ground in Spring 2022 and will be completed in early 2024.
