Mike Benz, AIA, joins Vessel as Director of Design
ST. LOUIS - Vessel announced that Mike Benz, has been named Director of Design. In this role, Benz provides primary leadership in elevating design for Vessel’s diverse range of client types. Over three decades he has established a reputation as an innovative architect with notable projects including Cortex Building 1, Cupples Station Lofts, Monadnock Hall at Southern New Hampshire University, and The Highlands Master Plan.
Mike’s work has garnered six AIA awards during his impressive career. He has created new kinds of architecture for living, wellness, and learning by understanding the collaborative nature of design. This has resulted in expressive and exuberant buildings celebrated not just for their critical design success, but also for their human quality.

Benz joins Vessel’s leadership team of Van Winkle and Peter Schwartz, AIA.

In addition to his work as a design leader, Benz teaches at Washington University and coaches soccer for disadvantaged and immigrant youth. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State University, is a registered architect in Missouri, Illinois, Colorado, Georgia and Oklahoma, and is a member of AIA and NCARB certified.
