Meet Brian Van Winkle

Brian, one of Vessel’s founding principals, has been very busy with numerous projects. He has been working on the drawings for the First Capitol Place apartments. The new design has taken shape, and the next phase will be documenting the full construction drawings package. Meanwhile, as the City Museum's architect, Brian has been helping them with a series of projects as they continue to enhance and improve the experience for their patrons. One of these projects is designing a labyrinth feature, which Brian says was a 'fun' challenge. “We had to innovate a clever system where panels release when the fire alarm system is activated, showing the way for an easy and safe exit!” He has also been flexing his design muscles on a couple of new senior living buildings in Tennessee and Georgia. We’re excited to watch those continue to come to life - stay tuned!

Outside of the office, Brian has had a very exciting summer! He and his wife, Heidi, added another grandbaby to their family and were able to come to St. Louis to meet him. That also gave Brian a good excuse to visit us all in the St. Louis office! Back home, his family met up with the Straatmanns in Black Hawk, Colorado, at Columbine Campground, while they were on a camping road trip adventure. They just so happened to be towing an extra side by side, so they all had a blast riding the trails!
