Project Spotlight — Skylight Detailing at Greater Goods
Skylights can transform a space, but only when they’re detailed correctly.
At Greater Goods, skylights played an important role in bringing daylight deep into the building. They elevate the experience of the space, reduce reliance on artificial lighting, and create moments that feel open and intentional.
Skylights are one of the most critical details in any project. There’s an old saying in the industry: it’s not if a skylight will leak, it’s when. That’s why careful coordination and detailing matter so much.
For this project, extra attention was given to reviewing manufacturer details, aligning structural, roofing, and waterproofing systems, and ensuring every transition was clearly documented and understood by the entire team. These moments of collaboration, often happening long before installation, are what protect the integrity of the building over time.
When done right, skylights don’t just bring in light. They demonstrate how thoughtful detailing, teamwork, and respect for the construction process lead to better, longer-lasting outcomes.
